What are the advantages and disadvantages of the state of Florida?

Hey, so my father was offered a job in Tampa, and although he dropped it, I love this state. Currently I live in the state of North Carolina, and thinking about college in FL, because I love it so much. My dad at the end said he was glad that he turned it down because: it is so hot and humid all the time, car insurance doubles the need for hurricane insurance, etc. so can anyone tell me the pros and cons? Thanks!

Its mostly sunny of the time, which is awesome if you like the beach or be outdoors, the winter is not freezing, but it does get cold in the north. We have a lot of hurricanes and tropical storms and the humidity is terrible.
