Rental Car Insurance Disputes
Small Claims Court hearing rental car accident .. my options?
I was involved in a car accident few months back while driving a rental car and was determined to be at fault in the police report. I had purchased full insurance (SLP and Damage Waiver) from the RAC. There is a dispute between Rental Car Insurance Agents and the other guy going to small claims court for $ 6,500 settlement.Rental Car Company (as owner) and me (as a driver) is the defendant. I have spoken with rental agents and they said rental car rep will attend the hearing and explain the reason for the dispute to the judge and said I did not need in hearing. They are prepared to pay based on judgments in small claims court. They also mentioned that when I was not the car's owner was no adverse ruling would not affect my credit history. is that right? What should I do in this situation? Thank you for your help.
In California, the owner of the car is responsible. So Rental location is right. Your name is on papers when you were the driver of the car, but when you purchased insurance (S), car hire company will cover it. (Your insurance will anyway). If you have questions, you can always call the hire company and s / w it claims Manager, they will give you the details.
